TEF: Gold!

In 2023, Greenwich Students’ Union (GSU) gathered information, evidence and stories from our members as part of the Universities submission to the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).

The result was Gold status for Student experience and overall!

GSU collaborated for the first time ever to interview 10 of our members on what it is to be a Greenwich student and they told us so much about their experiences, sense of belonging and what matters most to them about their university experience.

What is the TEF?

The Teaching Excellence Framework is run by the Office for Students (OfS) and benchmarks higher education providers on how they support students in the areas of teaching and degree outcomes. They do this through assessing and rating institutions to ensure that they deliver excellent experiences for undergraduate students.

What does Gold mean?

Gold is the best award that can be achieved. By being awarded Gold overall, Greenwich is demonstrating that students have an outstanding experience and outcomes.

Gold in student experience means that the academic experience is typically outstanding and silver in outcomes means that graduate outcomes are typically of a high quality.

What does this mean for your Students’ Union?

It means that your Students’ Union is contributing to your outstanding experience and we do this through our community building, wellbeing support, commitment to diversity and inclusion as well as amplifying your student voice.
